Orange County drivers headed to watch the fireworks this Independence Day can celebrate their freedom of travel with a more relaxed commute as construction closures throughout the county will be postponed for the holiday weekend.
Ongoing freeway closures associated with the West County Connectors, O.C. Bridges, Riverside Freeway (SR-91) and Orange Freeway (SR-57) projects will not take place from Thursday, July 4, through Sunday, July 7, to ease the impact on drivers. Regular construction schedules will resume on Monday, July 8.
OCTA buses and Metrolink also will operate on a holiday schedule on July 4. The schedules are available online at www.octa.net/ebusbook and www.metrolinktrains.com.
The construction projects underway represent more than $600 million in improvements and when completed, will enhance safety and improve traffic flow for hundreds of thousands of drivers who travel daily along Orange County’s freeways.
