Comment on the Proposed I-605/Katella Interchange Project

More than 50 area residents and community leaders attended a public hearing in Los Alamitos on April 24 regarding the I-605/Katella Avenue Interchange Project.

The proposed project would enhance the local interchange by improving freeway access, traffic flow and pedestrian and bike paths.

Hosted by OCTA and Caltrans, the meeting provided an opportunity for residents to get a closer look at the project alternatives and their potential effects on environmental issues such as air quality, noise, community character and traffic.

The studies are part of the project’s Draft Environmental Document (DED), which was released April 9 for a 30-day public review and comment period.

A digital version of the DED is on the Caltrans website, and hard copies are available during normal business hours at:

  • Caltrans District 12 Office, 1750 East 4th St., Suite 100, Santa Ana, CA 92705;
  • Los Alamitos City Hall, 3191 Katella Ave., Los Alamitos, CA 90720; and
  • Los Alamitos-Rossmoor Library, 12700 Montecito, Seal Beach, CA 90740.

Comments on the DED must be submitted to Caltrans in writing no later than 5 p.m., May 8. Comments may be mailed to:
