OCTA CEO Darrell Johnson recently spoke to an attentive group at a monthly meeting sponsored by Women’s Transportation Seminar-Orange County (WTS-OC).
Johnson outlined OCTA’s 2024-25 budget, which is currently being finalized.
Among other topics, Johnson commented on the agency’s focus on sustainability and resiliency as evidenced by its ongoing investment in zero-emission bus and infrastructure and continued coastal rail resiliency planning.
He also provided an overview of OC Go (also known as Measure M). Using funding from Orange County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements, OC Go is expected to generate approximately $14.8 billion through 2041.
His update on current projects included OCTA’s coastal rail resiliency efforts, which include short- and long-term studies to inform further project development efforts; the 405 Express Lanes, which is meeting projections with 4.8 million trips in its first four months of operation; and OC Streetcar, now 86% complete.
