Celebrate the Swallows with Free Metrolink Tickets

It’s back! The annual Swallows Day Parade and Mercado took a break during the past two years due to the pandemic but returns this year on March 12.

Each year in March, tiny swallows begin to arrive at San Juan Capistrano after winging hundreds of miles from Argentina. To celebrate these world-famous birds and the colorful history of the city, San Juan Capistrano rolls out the largest non-motorized parade in the nation and holds a street fair with hundreds of vendors. Other activities include live music, crafts, demonstrations and more.

By taking Metrolink to this popular event, you'll skip freeway traffic, parking hassles and arrive in time to grab a great spot on the parade route. Metrolink drops you off within a short walk to all the festivities. Enter here for a chance to win two free Metrolink tickets.

While you’re there, enjoy the other attractions that make San Juan Capistrano a favorite destination among Metrolink riders. The beautiful city has something for everyone -- a petting zoo for the little ones, an historic mission, great food and shopping, and easy walkability. Special deals on these and other attractions are available by showing your Metrolink ticket.

Save with a $10 Weekend Day Pass, valid system-wide for multiple trips on Saturday or Sunday. Be sure to take the kids – youth 17 and under ride free on weekends.
