Each year in March, large groups of swallows migrate 6,000 miles from Goya, Argentina to the Mission at San Juan Capistrano.
Since the early 1930s, the town of San Juan Capistrano has welcomed visitors to witness the return of the swallows. People from all over the world travel to be part of this annual event. All you have to do is board a Metrolink train to be part of it.
On Saturday, March 23, the city will hold its annual celebration of the swallows with a parade and Mercado Street Faire, a fun event just off the main parade route where the whole family can eat, dance, play, and shop.
Before the parade, please join us at a kickoff event at 8:30 a.m. at the Anaheim Regional Intermodal Center (also known as ARTIC). The first 100 people will ride the train free. You can also enter to win Metrolink tickets online.
At our ARTIC event, we’ll also celebrate the 25th anniversary of Metrolink’s OC Line. Since 1994, Metrolink has played an essential role in Orange County transportation. Over the decades, annual boardings on Metrolink’s Orange County Line have grown to more than 2.8 million as people continue to choose this reliable passenger rail service to connect with employment and weekend adventures.
To thank you for your continued ridership support, we’ll be serving special refreshments, including breakfast tacos from Wahoo’s and individual desserts from Nothing Bundt Cakes. In addition, we’re giving away a pair of Metrolink tickets to five winners every week in March. Enter the sweepstakes here.
