The California Transportation Commission (CTC), which is responsible for programming and allocating funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail and transit improvements throughout California, held its monthly meeting in Orange County last week. During the meeting, a total of $724,000 was allocated to the City of Santa Ana's Active Transportation Program. This funding will benefit bicycle programs related to trail safety and bike lane enhancements.
As part of the Orange County visit, several CTC commissioners and staff received a tour of various OCTA transportation projects. They visited the Tustin Metrolink Station, a railroad crossing that was improved as part of the Railroad Crossing Safety Enhancement Program, and the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC). They also viewed a portion of the OC Loop bike trail as well as the alignment of the OC Streetcar, which is under development in Santa Ana and Garden Grove.
