With construction of the I-405 Improvement Project anticipated to begin in 2017, OCTA is reaching out to business leaders and civic groups within the project area between State Route 73 (SR-73) in Costa Mesa and Interstate 605 (I-605) near the Los Angeles County Line.
Recently, the outreach team discussed the project with the Filipino Chamber of Commerce and shared a presentation that addressed the purpose and benefits of the project.
Scheduled for completion in 2022, the project includes adding one regular lane in each direction from Euclid Street to I-605 and making improvements to freeway entrances, exits and bridges. It will also construct the 405 Express Lanes, two lanes in each direction from SR-73 to I-605. The new express lanes – incorporating the existing carpool lanes and connectors that opened in 2014 – will give solo drivers the choice to speed up their commute for a toll, while carpoolers can ride free or at a discount, pending results of the 405 Express Lanes Traffic and Revenue Study.
The 1-405 Project will improve 16 miles of the country’s busiest freeway and save time for commuters and travelers throughout the area.
If your business or community group would like a presentation, please let us know by contacting the public outreach team at the project website. You can also stay up to date via Facebook.
