Apply for Taxpayer Oversight Committee by May 4

If you’d like to keep an eye on Orange County’s sales tax for transportation, consider applying for OCTA's Measure M Taxpayer Oversight Committee (TOC). The 11-member committee monitors OCTA’s use of Measure M funds and ensures that all revenue collected from Measure M is spent on voter-approved transportation projects. May 4 is the application deadline for the 2015-2018 term.

Four positions are open, one each from the First, Second, Fourth and Fifth Districts. Orange County residents residing in these districts are eligible to apply. Please note that elected or appointed city, district, state or federal officials are not eligible to serve on the TOC.

The First District includes the cities of Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Westminster, portions of Fountain Valley and the unincorporated community of Midway City.

The Second District consists of the cities of Costa Mesa, Cypress, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Seal Beach and Stanton, portions of Buena Park and Fountain Valley, as well as the unincorporated areas of Rossmoor, Sunset Beach and Surfside.

The Fourth District is comprised of the cities of Anaheim, Brea, Fullerton, La Habra, Placentia and portions of Buena Park.

The Fifth District is represented by the cities of Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, portions of Irvine and the unincorporated communities of Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch, Las Flores and Wagon Wheel.
