Earlier this month, OCTA initiated two major closures as part of OC Bridges, which constructs overpasses and underpasses to separate rail and vehicular traffic at seven locations in Orange County.
On Jan. 5, the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Orangethorpe Avenue was closed for the overcrossing project at Orangethorpe Avenue. This closure may last for up to a year. Detour routes include Kraemer Boulevard to the west or Tustin Avenue/Rose Drive to the east, with Alta Vista Street to the north and Miraloma Avenue to the south.
On Jan. 9, the other major closure went into effect at State College Boulevard and Valencia in Fullerton. This closure will last for approximately 2.5 years. All access to local businesses and residents will be accommodated. Placentia Avenue will serve as the alternate route, along with Acacia Avenue.
OCTA has received several awards for projects in the OC Bridges program, most recently from the Southern California Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA). The CMAA will present the Placentia Avenue Grade Separation Project with an award for Transportation Construction Management later this year.
