The West County Connectors project has reached another major milestone.
At 2 p.m., Sunday Sept. 15, the west half of the Seal Beach Boulevard bridge opened to motorists. In order to restore traffic to two lanes in each direction, crews worked around the clock over the weekend to restripe Seal Beach Boulevard and modify signal timing before unveiling the new lane configuration.
Now that the new half of the bridge is complete, crews will move forward with demolishing and reconstructing the east half of the bridge in late September or early October 2013. The final bridge is anticipated to be complete in mid-2014 and will include four northbound lanes and three southbound lanes.
