To Shape the Future of the 511 Traveler Information System, OCTA Talks With Users

Southern California 511 (511) is a free traveler information service that provides traffic, transit, and commuter service information to Orange County commuters via a toll-free phone number and website. Launched three years ago, the integrated voice response (IVR) system and Go511.com website drew mixed reviews in the OCTA 2011 Bus Satisfaction Survey.

To improve the 511 system and increase usage, OCTA is going straight to the people who use it to find out what can be done to make the traveler information system more effective for transit riders. OCTA is holding a total of four focus groups between Tuesday, Sept. 17 and Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The focus groups will help OCTA target future investment strategies for improving and upgrading the 511 system, a potentially viable alternative or replacement for some of the more costly services currently provided by OCTA.

Southern California 511 is just one of the many motorist services provided by OCTA. Others include the freeway service patrol, the call box network, and taxi administration. Click here to learn more.
