The I-5 Project Team Meets With Residents in Santa Ana

The OCTA project team presented information to the Floral Park Neighborhood Association in Santa Ana on Tues., Sept. 24 about improvements to the I-5 from the SR-55 to the SR-57.

Approximately a dozen home owners and representatives from the city of Santa Ana attended the meeting to discuss improvements to the segment, which include:

•    Adding a second carpool lane in each direction,
•    Removing the carpool on- and off-ramps at Main Street, and
•    Enhancing the southbound I-5 on-ramp at First Street

The $45 million project aims to reduce congestion on the I-5 between the SR-55 and the SR-57. Currently, 390,000 motorists travel on the I-5 through Santa Ana, Tustin, southwest Orange and southeast Anaheim each day, and projected traffic volumes are expected to increase 19 percent by 2030.

The recent presentation is part of a series of meetings with key groups in the area to keep residents, businesses and community leaders informed. Please email the project team to schedule a presentation about the project for your community.

A public hearing about the project is tentatively scheduled for late 2013 or early 2014 in Santa Ana. Click here to learn more.
