The largest project in OCTA’s history, the I-405 Improvement Project will improve 16 miles of I-405 and add one regular lane in each direction from Euclid Street to I-605. It will also construct the 405 Express Lanes from SR-73 to I-605. This is the fourth in a series that reports on what’s happening behind the scenes.
Reaching Out to Businesses along the I-405 Corridor Project Area
There are about 11,000 businesses along the 16-mile stretch of the I-405 Improvement Project, and OCTA wants to connect with each one.
So far, in pursuing its goal to help each business flourish and run as smoothly as possible during construction, OCTA has met with nearly 400 companies. Though they range in size from big employers like Kaiser Permanente and the Automobile Club of Southern California to smaller operations like Crafted Doughnuts, OCTA’s approach is always the same – meet, greet, educate, and form partnerships.
By establishing strong communications, OCTA makes sure that employees and customers stay up to date and know who to contact with questions during the expected six-year construction span of the I-405 Improvement Project. In addition to offering presentations to small and large groups, OCTA provides a wide variety of educational materials, including content for newsletter and websites, social media posts, flyers, posters, paycheck stuffers and envelope inserts, and press releases.
The majority of the businesses have employees and delivery drivers who commute daily on the I-405. They’re happy to share information that will make the journey easier.
