OCTA, the owner and manager of the original 10 miles of the 91 Express Lanes in Orange County, recently published the 91 Express Lanes Annual Report for 2021 with the theme, “Driven by Reliability.”
During this time of great change, the 91 Express Lanes remains a reliable constant. No matter when travelers journey on this transportation alternative between Orange and Riverside counties, they are assured of a safe, dependable ride that helps them live life on time, day after day.
Due to the pandemic, both traffic volumes and gross potential toll revenues dipped during the 2020-21 fiscal year. However, the traffic volumes increased by 2.5 percent compared to the previous year, and the number of accounts rose by nearly5,000 to a total of more than 154,000.
In 2021, OCTA continued issuing updated transponders, moved forward with a new back-office system to help improve operations and customer experiences, and funded projects that improve transportation along State Route 91.
Customers can continue to rely on the 9I Express Lanes now and in the future for smooth, safe, dependable travel.
This annual report covers fiscal year 2020-21, which ended in June 2021. According to a quarterly updated presented in February 2022, traffic volumes on the 91 Express Lanes have rebounded and now exceed pre-pandemic levels.
