For the past six years, OCTA has offered an amazing summer deal that lets kids explore Orange County for half the price of regular bus fare. The Youth Summer Pass is only $20 for 30 consecutive days of rides to places like the beach or Knott’s Berry Farm or a friend’s house, the library, or a summer job. It gives those 6 to 18 the freedom to ride without having a car and offers parents a vacation from chauffeur duty.
Riders who take a selfie with their Youth Summer Bus Pass and share it at #OCSummerBus can win Knott’s Berry Farm tickets and bus passes.
Perhaps the sweetest deal of all, however, is the 10 percent discount pass holders receive at A La Minute, the drool-worthy artisanal ice cream shop in Orange. Here’s what Westways Magazine says about it in the July/August issue: “A La Minute incorporates farmers market freshness into its sweet treats, with organic dairy and locally sourced product in every flavor. If that’s not enough, there’s also inventive liquid nitrogen, used to accelerate the freezing of the ice cream and decrease the amount of chunky ice crystals.” The magazine recommends the salted caramel and fresh mint chip.
You can reach A La Minute using OC Bus Routes 54, 56 and 59 and you can learn more about the Youth Summer Bus Pass here.
