As part of OC Bus 360°, an initiative that looks at improving the bus system from all angles, OCTA is proposing a service plan for 2016 that would shift service from low-performing routes to areas where there is higher demand to offer passengers more frequent and faster service. If the draft plan is implemented, 92 percent of bus riders in Orange County would see no change or improved service.
The plan is expected to increase ridership by 1.6 million boardings during the next three years and will put limited resources where they’re most needed by:
- Creating a more efficient and cost-effective transit system
- Adding service where demand is highest
- Increasing frequencies and improving travel times by adding two new Bravo! routes and a second Xpress route
- Reallocating service from the least productive routes
In addition, OC Bus 360° includes the development of mobile ticketing and real-time passenger information, fare adjustment studies, and new vehicle rebranding.
Please attend a public hearing on Jan. 25, 2016 to learn more about the proposed 2016 Bus Service Plan and express your opinion. Your comments will be carefully reviewed and considered as a final proposal is developed. Contingent on the final approval of the Board, the plan will be implemented in June and October 2016.
