OCTA recently hosted a free training event for service animals and their handlers to practice boarding, riding and alighting OCTA buses. The event helps familiarize service animals with public transportation and attracted dozens of participants.
For five hours, buses traveled between the Fullerton Park and Ride and Knott's Berry Farm®, allowing animals and trainers to experience the sights and sounds of both the bus and theme park.
After completing the training day, participants can apply for the OCTA Bus Mobility Training Card. This no-fare photo ID lets holders ride OCTA’s fixed-route system for free while training a therapy or service animal.
OCTA hosts this event twice a year, in April and October. For training information, contact Scott Watt at (714) 265-4390 or swatt@octa.net.
