OCTA offers one of the only programs in the country that pairs service animals and their trainers with experience riding public transportation. Twice a year, groups gather at the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) for a chance to ride the bus for free while taking in the sights and sounds of Downtown Disney District and Anaheim Garden Walk.
On April 11, OCTA’s Service Animal Training Day attracted 425 attendees, nearly double that of previous events. Participants included Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Canine Companions, Bark Therapy Dogs, Guide Dogs for the Blind, The GO Team, San Diego Puppy Raisers, Pet Partners, and veterans and first responders.
For more than 30 years, OCTA has assisted with the training of thousands of service animals while helping those in the community gain increased access to public transportation as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), reinforcing its long-standing commitment to accessibility and removing barriers for every rider served.
