On April 11, OCTA will offer its free semi-annual program to familiarize therapy and service animals with public transportation. Animals that are comfortable with the sounds, movement and layout of a bus increase the independence and confidence of their handlers.
This year, Service Animal Training Day is taking place at a new location. Beginning at Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), buses will travel to Downtown Disney District and Anaheim Garden Walk.
Service Animal Training Day offers free and unlimited practice boarding, riding, and exiting an OCTA bus along this special bus route, and trainers are encouraged to ride multiple times. Round-trip buses depart every 20 minutes.
For a different experience, trainers and their service animals can also board a Metrolink train at ARTIC (standard Metrolink fares apply).
After completing the training day, participants can apply for the OCTA Bus Mobility Training Card. This no-fare photo ID lets holders ride OCTA’s fixed-route system for free while training a therapy or service animal.

The fall session will take place October 3.
