The popular program that helps trainers and their service animals learn how to ride a bus has been expanded to twice a year. The new spring date is Saturday, April 5 at the Fullerton Park-and-Ride at 3000 Orangethorpe Ave.
Service Animal Training Day provides trainers with free and unlimited practice boarding, riding, and alighting an OCTA training bus along special route that also includes downtown Buena Park and Knott’s Berry Farm®.
The round trip from Fullerton departs every 20 minutes from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Trainers are encouraged to ride multiple times to increase service animal confidence and familiarity. For more information, visit octa.net/animal.
After completing the training day, participants can apply for the OCTA Bus Mobility Training Card. This no-fare photo ID lets holders ride OCTA’s fixed-route system for free while training a therapy or service animal.
