The OC Loop connects bicyclists through 17 communities in North, Central and Coastal Orange County. The project is about 70 percent complete, with a few keys gaps remaining.
Upon completion, the OC Loop will be 66 miles of continuous bicycling. Some parts of the Loop, like the Santa Ana River Trail and the Coastal Trail along Pacific Coast Highway, are already heavily used by bicyclists, joggers and walkers.
Other connections, like the Tracks at Brea, are currently being built. The first segment of the Tracks at Brea is complete and the city will be hosting a community meeting to provide details on Segments 3 and 4 on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 6:00 pm at the Brea Community Center, Community Hall Patio Room located at 695 E. Madison Way.
Projects like this help the OC Loop move forward and make Orange County more bicycle friendly.
OCTA, the Orange County Council of Governments and local jurisdictions work together to plan future bikeways in Orange County. The current study area is the OC Foothills, which includes the cities of Irvine, Tustin, Orange, Villa Park, Yorba Linda and portions of Anaheim. The next public meeting will take place in early fall. For more details, please contact Nathan Wheadon at 714-560-5936.
