Seafest, a fun day of eating, surfing, and chowder judging, will bring locals, businesses and visitors together on Sunday, October 6 to enjoy the delights of San Clemente. Now celebrating its 26th year, Seafest is sponsored by the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce.
Seafest draws visitors from all over southern California. For many, Metrolink is the best way to get there. The Metrolink station is conveniently located on the beach near the historic quarter-mile pier. It’s an easy walk to Seafest to sample chowder and admire handcrafted items from local artists.
Metrolink provides a welcome alternative to the paid parking lot, which fills up quickly and demands an uphill walk. Metrolink, easy to get on and off and with no parking requirements, is the clear choice. For only $10, riders can travel to and from the San Clemente Seafest using the Metrolink Weekend Day Pass.
Area restaurants, businesses and San Clemente locals will compete for the honor of the best-tasting chowder this side of New England. Spectators can get in on the action by purchasing a taste-testing ticket and casting their votes for the best chowder as part of the People’s Choice awards. In addition to the cook-off chowder, fresh seafood prepared by local restaurants will also be available.
Other Seafest events include the 16th annual surfing contest, children’s competitions and arts and crafts, and a demonstration rescue by the U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue. The best place to view the surfing contest and rescue demonstration is from the pier, just steps away from the Metrolink Station.
