Next Saturday, February 4, L.A.’s Chinatown will host one of the country’s most popular Lunar New Year events. The Golden Dragon Parade and Festival will feature elaborate decorations and performances by some of the nation’s best Chinese acts as well as food trucks, a beer garden, face painting and paper folding.
Many Orange County families look forward to this event all year. Since driving and parking in Los Angeles can be a hassle, however, taking the train is a fun, affordable, and hassle-free alternative. Metrolink drops riders off at Union Station, where they pick up the Metro Red Line and take it straight to Chinatown.
OCTA will celebrate the Lunar New Year with Metrolink riders on February 4 at the Irvine Station, beginning at 8 a.m. Festivities include a traditional lion dance and refreshments. The first 100 people will receive free Metrolink tickets. (First come, first served.) For more information about OCTA’s Lunar New Year event kick off, click here.
Alternatively, tickets may be purchased at Metrolink station kiosks or via the Metrolink mobile app. At $10, the Metrolink Weekend Pass is a great deal that offers unlimited rides all day either Saturday or Sunday. Also, three children ride free with an adult using a valid ticket. Tickets are not sold onboard. For more information about purchasing Metrolink tickets and riding the train, click here.
