Throughout the month of September, OCTA and Caltrans met with residents in cities bordering the Interstate 405 (I-405) Improvement Project to discuss the installation of noise-diminishing soundwalls. Nearly 70 people attended meetings in Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Westminster and Rossmoor. The meetings afforded project staff the opportunity to address specific concerns one-on-one.
Prior to the meetings, OCTA sent information to property owners near the project, which will widen the I-405 between State Route 73 (SR-73) and Interstate 605 (I-605). The letter included information about soundwalls as well as a survey about soundwall height preferences and upcoming meeting notifications.
Opinions from property owners and/or residents within the area of each soundwall will be considered prior to the installation of the permanent structures within the Caltrans’ right-of-way. No full residential or commercial acquisitions will be required.
