Excited fans turned out last weekend for the Lunar New Year festivities at Irvine Metrolink Station featuring professional Lion Dancers, Chinese delicacies, a traditional song performance, and free Metrolink passes.
Every year, OCTA hosts this popular event for those on their way LA’s Golden Dragon Parade via Metrolink. Chinatown is within easy walking distance of both LA Union Station and Metro stations.
At the most recent event on Feb. 1, OCTA Director Don Wagner, also Third District Supervisor, County of Orange, stopped by to address the crowd along with Farrah Khan and Anthony Kuo, both Councilmembers from the City of Irvine.
Lunar New Year is the most celebrated holiday of the year for the nearly 1.5 million people of Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese descent living in Southern California. A Metrolink train rides provides a stress-free way for family and friends to travel together without the hassle of driving and parking in downtown LA.
