On track for arrival in 2022, OC Streetcar will connect to existing rail and bus routes in Orange County and beyond, including the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC) that serves Metrolink and Amtrak travelers throughout Southern California. The county’s first modern electric streetcar will travel about 4 miles between SARTC and Garden Grove on a route that serves Santa Ana’s thriving downtown and dense employment areas, including county and local government offices and courthouses in the Civic Center area.
Construction began last year and OCTA has been working with businesses along the alignment to provide information related to construction and offer marketing and promotional assistance. OCTA has also provided signage throughout the downtown area directing visitors to free parking options. A brochure and a video about OC Streetcar have been produced to introduce residents and stakeholders to this upcoming transportation alternative.
OCTA has entered into agreements with two downtown Santa Ana business associations, Downtown, Inc. and the Santa Ana Business Council, to provide additional resources to help attract visitors during OC Streetcar construction. The agreements, $100,000 each for two consecutive years, will help the business associations plan events and expand their marketing efforts to help promote downtown Santa Ana’s vibrant businesses and restaurants. These agreements match those that the City of Santa Ana currently holds with each association.
In addition, OCTA is encouraging its staff in nearby Orange to visit and support local Santa Ana businesses. Learn more about OC Streetcar here.
