OCTA Reinforces Sustainability Efforts with Free Rides on Clean Air Day

California Clean Air Day is a statewide event focused on cleaner air and healthier living. On October 1, OCTA will participate by offering free bus rides on all 51 fixed routes to reduce traffic, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and move toward a cleaner Orange County.

At OCTA, protecting clean air is a long-term commitment. Today, the OC Bus fleet operates on 100% renewable energy and is driving toward a fully zero-emission future. As part of that journey, OCTA is testing both plug-in battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses to identify the best path forward for even cleaner transit options.

Through programs like the Community College Pass, OCTA encourages students to choose the bus rather than driving a car to help ease congestion while creating more equitable access to education and opportunity.

These initiatives, along with many others, reflect OCTA’s ongoing promise to safeguard Orange County’s air, land, water, and community. Learn more about OCTA’s sustainability efforts here.
