The California Transportation Foundation (CTF) has selected the West County Connectors as its Project of the Year. The four-year, $297 million project connects carpool lanes among the
I-405, I-605, and SR-22 freeways and adds six miles of carpool lanes, eliminating the need for drivers to merge and weave to get from one carpool lane to the next as they change freeways.
Other accolades include the recognition of the Sand Canyon Grade Separation in the structure category, the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) in the transit/tail category, and the Placentia Avenue Grade Separation in the safety category.
The CTF is the leading charitable transportation organization in the state. Among other efforts, the CTF provides scholarships for students planning a career in transportation, career development opportunities and awards and recognition programs. The CTF awards will be presented at a luncheon on May 21 at the Sacramento Sheraton Hotel.
