OCTA Encourages the Public to Take Metrolink to the Ocean Festival

The San Clemente Ocean Festival is one of the city’s most popular annual events, with nearly 50,000 people expected to visit the downtown area between July 20 and 21.

The weekend event features surfing championships, sand sculpting competitions, relay races, bodysurfing clinics, crafts, exhibits, fishing and a rubber duck race.

OCTA has partnered with the city of Fullerton to host an Ocean Festival kick-off event at the Fullerton Transportation Center on Saturday, July 20 at 8:30 a.m. The first 50 event attendees will receive a free round-trip Metrolink ticket valid for July 20, 2013. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event will feature free food courtesy of Santa Fe Express Café and live music by Headshine. After the event, attendees can board the 9:23 a.m. Metrolink train to the Ocean Festival in San Clemente. The San Clemente Pier Station is located in the heart of the festivities.

Riders can take Metrolink to the festival in San Clemente from as far away as LA Union Station or San Bernardino. It will cost only $10 with the Metrolink Weekend Day Pass. This pass is valid for system-wide travel on either Saturday or Sunday, and can be purchased at the ticket vending machines located at the stations.
