OCTA and RCTC Partner on 91 Corridor Operations Project

The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), in partnership with OCTA, Caltrans, the Transportation Corridor Agencies, and the City of Corona, is building the 91 Corridor Operations Project which will add a lane to westbound SR-91 for approximately two miles between the Green River Road on-ramp and the southbound SR-241 connector.

Construction is underway on the new lane, which will help relieve westbound traffic congestion through this heavily traveled corridor and is expected to open in late 2021.

This project is part of OCTA’s freeway program, funded by OC Go, Orange County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements. With changes to OC Go sales tax revenue forecasts, in 2016, the OCTA Board of Directors approved the use of 91 Express Lanes excess revenues to ensure delivery of improvements as promised to voters. OC Go is also known as Measure M.

OCTA will contribute nearly $15 million of 91 Express Lanes excess revenue to fund its share of the 91 Corridor Operations Project. OCTA owns and operates the 91 Express Lanes in Orange County and has invested more than $45.8 million in toll revenue for projects that improve corridor transportation, with additional funds held in reserve for future projects of this type.
