For many in Orange County, summer is the season for the OC Fair, and the OC Fair Express is the best way to get there without worrying about driving or parking.
At the OC Fair Express opening day on July 15 at the Fullerton Park-and-Ride, fans lined up for free roundtrip rides and a chance to win prizes including VIP passes and food vouchers. From now through August 13, buses will depart from nine convenient locations on Saturdays and Sundays and will provide rides from approximately 10 a.m. to midnight.
OCTA Director Gregory Winterbottom and Beth McCormick, General Manager of OCTA’s transit division, were at the Fullerton celebration to welcome riders to another season of car-free travel at a great price. A ride on the OC Fair Express costs $2 each way, or 75 cents for seniors age 60 and up and people with disabilities. In addition, OC Fair Express riders receive a coupon for $3 OC Fair admission. With that $11 savings, a fun trip on the OC Fair Express pays for itself.
In its first Saturday and Sunday of operation, OC Fair Express ridership was up 17 percent compared to the same period last year.
The OC Fair Express is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC), which provides subsidies for cleaner transportation alternatives.
