OC Bus UPass Gets Shout-Out in UCI Publication

At many universities in Orange County, cars and campuses don’t mix. Parking is scarce and fees are pricey, and the overall cost of car ownership is just one more big expense along with tuition, books, and living expenses.

To help students get to class and travel the rest of OC for fun, work, food, and shopping, OCTA has partnered with Chapman University, Cal State Fullerton, and UC Irvine (UCI) to provide affordable, convenient transportation. Customized for the needs and requirements of each partnering school, the University Pass (UPass) allows students to ride OC Bus all day, every day for a fraction of the cost of regular OC Bus fares. At some campuses, the cost is as low as $1 per day.

ULoop, a UCI online publication about college campus life, mentioned UPass in the article “Things to Consider for Living Off Campus”, saying, “There are other methods of commuting to ease the load that driving your own car creates. Different buses and trains offer student discounts for commuters, such as the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA)’s University Pass for UC Irvine students.” Read the whole article here.
