The League of American Bicyclists featured OCTA’s “3 Feet for Safety” video in its bi-monthly magazine as an example of using humor to educate the public about bicycle safety.
The video was developed to educate Orange County residents about the 2014 law that requires drivers to leave at least three feet when passing a cyclist.
Instead of a dry message, OCTA developed a 30-second public service announcement that communicates with humor. The video has received more than 83,000 views on YouTube and more than 325,000 views on Facebook.
The video is part of OCTA’s “I Give 3 Feet” bike safety campaign, which also includes bus wraps, posters, window clings and television and radio announcements.
The article appeared in the Winter 2015 issue of American Bicyclist. The magazine focuses on important issues in bicycle advocacy and education and is distributed to 300,000 readers.
