In the coming weeks, southern California offers up two great events easily reachable by convenient Metrolink trains. Relax with your family and avoid traffic on a day trip to these great destinations. Discounts and special offers may be available with your Metrolink pass.
This weekend (Sept. 26-27) is the 3rd Annual Greek Festival in beautiful San Juan Capistrano, a special, kid-friendly town easily reached by Metrolink. For a sweet treat, show your Metrolink pass at the festival and receive a free pastry. On Saturday and Sunday, free shuttles will be provided to arriving and departing trains (OC Line 662, 664, 665 and 667 only) at San Juan Capistrano Metrolink Station. In addition, valuable discounts are available with your Metrolink pass at the world-famous Mission, Zoomars Petting Zoo, Los Rios Historic district, and wonderful restaurants and shopping districts.
On Sunday, October 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Seafest celebrates its 28th year with a surfing contest, art and craft exhibit, U.S. Coast Guard Search & Rescue demonstration and its signature chowder cook-off. Hoist a mug of clam chowder and enjoy San Clemente, a Metrolinkable beach town famous for its white sand and historic Spanish architecture. Seafest is best reached by a Metrolink train. For affordable travel to both events, check out the Metrolink Weekends Day Pass. Only $10, it offers travel system-wide on either Saturday or Sunday and is available for purchase at all Metrolink station ticket vending machines.
Other Metrolink discounts are available. Children 5 and under ride free (three children can ride free with an adult who is using a valid ticket; each additional child pays a discounted youth fare). Students of all ages and riders 6 to 18 and younger can receive a 25 percent Metrolink discount on one-way and round-trip tickets and 7-day and monthly passes.
