Two destinations served by Metrolink, San Clemente and Oceanside, recently gained renewed access following track stabilization efforts by OCTA and its partners.
Both cities boast many attractions for leisure travelers, including beautiful beaches, abundant shopping and distinctive eateries. These all-around friendly locations are also walkable, bikeable and surfable, making them ideally suitable for train travel. Metrolink trains accommodate bikes and surfboards.
Also known as the Spanish Village by the Sea, San Clemente features two train stations, world-famous beaches, a distinctive outlet mall and a free trolley for travel around town.
Oceanside is a classic beach town with something for everyone from whale watching to craft brews to beautiful sunsets.
To encourage travelers to reduce traffic and emissions by taking the train, OCTA promotes Metrolink weekend trips to San Clemente, Oceanside and other destinations. The Metrolink Daycations website makes planning a trip easy and fun with day trip ideas and special offers, such as the opportunity to enter to win two round trip train tickets and a $100 gift card.
In addition, weekend trips are affordable. Adults can travel system wide Saturday or Sunday and kids 17 and under ride free.
