Before boarding Metrolink on their way to the Golden Dragon Parade and Festival in Los Angeles, more than 350 people joined OCTA at Irvine Station on Feb. 21 to get an early start on their Lunar New Year celebration. Every year, OCTA holds a pre-festival gathering with a designated number free Metrolink tickets, Lion Dancers, and music to encourage ridership and build excitement on this special day. Lunar New Year is the most celebrated holiday of the year for the nearly 1.5 million people of Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese descent living in Southern California, and thousands travel to the famous parade in Los Angeles. From Orange County, Metrolink travels directly to Los Angeles Union Station, and from there it’s an easy and free transfer to Chinatown, the first stop on the Metro Gold Line.
