Metrolink Lunar New Year Event Attracts More than 250 People

Rain, wind, and cold couldn’t keep Orange County fans from their favorite Metrolink event.

On February 7, more than 250 people turned out for the Lunar New Year festivities at Irvine Station featuring professional Lion Dancers, Chinese delicacies, a traditional song performance, and free Metrolink passes to the first 100 people.

Every year, OCTA hosts this popular event for those on their way LA’s Golden Dragon Parade via Metrolink. Chinatown is within easy walking distance of both LA Union Station and Metro stations.

This year, OCTA Director Mark A. Murphy, also Mayor of the City of Orange, and Donald Wagner, Mayor of Irvine, stopped by to address the crowd.

Combined with regularly scheduled service on the Orange County line, special Metrolink 2019 Lunar New Year service carried twice the number of passengers compared to the previous regular Saturday.
