Metrolink, in conjunction with OCTA, is replacing 21,000 railroad ties in Orange County between the cities of Orange and San Juan Capistrano through April 8. This night-time maintenance will not affect passenger service, but residents near tracks may hear increased nighttime activity weeknights between the approximate hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The work began near the Orange Metrolink Station and will conclude at the Oso Road crossing in San Juan Capistrano. The Orange segment will take approximately three weeks, followed by five weeks in San Juan Capistrano.
Additional clean-up work may be needed after the project is complete. The schedule also accounts for expected weather-related delays.
The crews will replace approximately 500 ties a night. Residents near the tracks may hear intermittent work for up to two hours at a time.
Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain the tracks for your smooth and safe Metrolink journeys.
