In October, OCTA opened the McFadden Avenue bridge as part of the I-405 Improvement Project. The new bridge links Huntington Beach and Westminster and has double the number of lanes compared to the old bridge and new sidewalks and bike lanes in both directions were added. It is one of more than 18 bridges to be built, widened or replaced as part of the project, which aims to reduce travel times on I-405 between Costa Mesa and the Los Angeles County line.
As depicted in this video, the 18-month McFadden Avenue bridge project was a team effort that will benefit local residents as well as the thousands of drivers who travel the I-405 each day.
To celebrate this milestone, many local stakeholders joined together to contribute to this inspiring salute to progress on this 16-mile segment of I-405, one of the most heavily traveled stretches of highway in the nation. Please take a few minutes to watch and listen to several members of the OCTA Board of Directors, CEO Darrell Johnson, local mayors and council members, and other project partners who expressed appreciation of this new bridge.
