Improvements to increase mobility on the Costa Mesa Freeway (SR-55) will begin this summer. OCTA will be hosting two SR-55 Improvement Project (I-405 to I-5) virtual meetings on April 27 and May 18 to introduce the project to the public. Community members are invited to learn more about the project, construction activities, and how to stay informed. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of each presentation.

SR-55 is a major route connecting Orange County to Riverside and San Bernardino counties that also provides access to key business centers, John Wayne Airport and the beach cities. To help improve commutes, the project will add one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction, as well as auxiliary lanes. The $475.1 million project is funded by OC Go (also known as Measure M), state and federal funds. The California Transportation Commission (CTC) awarded OCTA $140 million in competitive state transportation funding to support the project.
