As part of a program to improve the 100 busiest bus stops in Orange County, OCTA will fund up to $3 million for passenger amenities through OC Go, Orange County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements. Formerly known as Measure M, OC Go puts local tax dollars to work.
Moving forward, OCTA will work with the fourteen eligible local agencies to assess the needs of the county’s busiest bus stops and develop recommendations for potential improvements. Final funding recommendations are expected to be presented to the OCTA Board of Directors early next year.
In 2014, OCTA awarded its first round of funding for improvements at bus stops totaling $1.2 million.
While OCTA funds the projects, the cities are responsible for designing, constructing and maintaining the bus stop improvements.
