How to Enjoy a Metrolink Daycation: Train Traveler Stories

Leisure weekend travel by train continues to gain popularity as riders discover the fun and affordability of Metrolink travel. In Orange County, there are three Metrolink lines and 12 stations that make it easy to travel to exciting LA, the shops and mission at San Juan Capistrano, and many other destinations. Weekend Metrolink service south of San Clemente Pier is temporarily unavailable.

OCTA’s Metrolink Daycation website has everything travelers need to know to plan a great trip and save. Here’s what two of our recent riders had to say about their experiences.

“As a foster mom, I have the joy of caring for children who need a home, stability and love. It’s a challenge, but so worth it. My contact at Olive Crest emailed about OC Metrolink’s Holiday Daycation Deals…an easy way to treat the kids to a train adventure. We boarded at Tustin station and spent the day in San Juan Capistrano—went to the Mission, walked Los Rios Historic District (grabbed a coffee), and had a fun lunch on the patio at Ellie’s Table before heading home. The kids love the train!”  -- Annalisa, Irvine

On weekends, adults travel systemwide Saturday or Sunday for only $10 and kids 17 and under ride free.

Throughout the year, OCTA provides opportunities to win free Metrolink tickets. One family used them to visit the City of Angels.

“We took a few pictures and wanted to say thank you for the tickets I won!  My family and I went from Fullerton to LA Union Station. We walked around LA and had lunch afterwards. It was so nice to get out and have family time!” -- Chantel Rosete
