Get inspired by solar homes and imagine living in these cost-effective, attractive structures at the Solar Decathlon at Orange County Great Park in Irvine Oct. 8-11 & 15-18, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Gather ideas to use in your own home and learn how energy-saving features can help save money, then spend the day at beautiful Great Park with your family.
Students from Orange County colleges will be among the international competitors designing and building the energy-efficient homes.
There are many ways to go green to this free event sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Both Metrolink and the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner provide service to the Irvine Station. From there, show your train ticket and ride free to the Great Park on the shuttle provided by the City of Irvine.
You can even go green and go free with a little help from OCTA. Come celebrate the Solar Decathlon with us on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Orange Station with music, free refreshments sponsored by Ruby’s Diner and free Metrolink tickets for the first 100 people (first come, first served). The train to Irvine departs at 11:30 a.m.
