Fullerton Kickoff Event July 20 Highlights Rail Travel to San Clemente Ocean Festival

OCTA and Metrolink are kicking off "the greatest show on surf" Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21 with a pre-festival event in Fullerton for the San Clemente Ocean Festival.

At the kickoff, participants will have the opportunity to receive free Metrolink tickets and learn about the rail transit option they may use to reach the beach.

To encourage people to travel by transit for the annual beach games competition, Metrolink will provide free roundtrip tickets to the San Clemente Pier for the first 50 participants at the 8:30 a.m. kickoff at the Fullerton Transportation Center.

By taking the train, participants may arrive at the festival without having to wait in traffic or search for parking at the popular event that attracts nearly 50,000 people each year.

“The San Clemente Ocean Festival is a unique and fun-filled experience for residents of all ages,” said OCTA Chairman Greg Winterbottom. “Taking the Metrolink allows riders to get to and from the festivities in a safe, inexpensive and hassle-free way.”

Participants at the Fullerton kickoff event may enjoy free food courtesy of Santa Fe Express Café and live music from the band “Headshine.”

Following the activities, people may board the 9:23 a.m. Metrolink train for a direct trip to the San Clemente Pier for the festival’s opening weekend.

OCTA has a list of the Metrolink train schedule and locations online and more information about the festival is available at the event website.
