Recently, the Orange County Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) Operators demonstrated their towing skills in a friendly and competitive environment at a Tow Truck Roadeo at the OCTA Garden Grove Bus Base as part of regular required training for safety and productivity.
FSP, a traffic management partnership among OCTA, Caltrans, and the California Highway Patrol, rapidly removes disabled vehicles from Orange County freeways. Private tow truck companies operate the service under contract with OCTA.
FSP services are free to motorists. From a jump start to a gallon of gas, or simply changing a flat tire, the trucks and drivers help people get back on the road. They'll even help take vehicles to a safe location off the freeway without charge.
