South Orange County’s first garden show, Eco Xpo, will feature demonstration gardens, expert speakers, edible landscapes and environmental resources. Free and open to the public at Los Rios Park, the San Juan Capistrano event will be held May 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Freeway construction at the Ortega Highway (74) and Interstate 5 (I-5) may cause traffic congestion. An alternative to driving, Metrolink offers a convenient and stress-free ride to the San Juan Capistrano train station. The Eco Xpo is within easy walking distance. As an additional benefit, those who show their Metrolink ticket at the Goin Native booth will receive a free miniature tree.
To encourage ridership, OCTA will hold a pre-event at the Tustin Metrolink Station beginning at 8:30 a.m. The first 50 people will receive a free Metrolink ticket while enjoying free food from Nothing Bundt Cakes and live music from Headshine. Those who bring a non-perishable donation for Second Harvest Food Bank can take the OCTA prize wheel for a spin before hopping on the 9:46 a.m. train to San Juan Capistrano.
Traveling to San Juan Capistrano is simple and inexpensive from anywhere in southern California. Good Saturday or Sunday wherever Metrolink travels, the $10 Metrolink Weekend Day Pass is available at any Metrolink station kiosk.
