There are many noteworthy things about San Juan Capistrano (SJC).
The town is justifiably famous for its beautiful mission, along with the charming Los Rios historic district. There’s also a popular petting zoo as well as distinctive shops with one-of-a-kind gifts and restaurants to satisfy all ages and tastes.
But for Orange County residents, one of the best things about SJC is how easy it is to reach using Metrolink train service. All of these attractions are located within easy walking distance of the San Juan Capistrano Metrolink Station, a charming Mission Revival Style structure originally built in 1894 and upgraded extensively over the years.
While you're there:
Grab a coffee from the wildly popular Hidden House Coffee near the station |
Explore the beautiful Mission via an audio tour (you can also feed Koi fish!) |
Meet and feed llamas, goats, and other animals at Zoomars Petting Zoo |
Take a break over tea and fresh scones at the charming Tea House on Los Rios |
Enjoy lunch in a beautifully restored train car at The Vintage Steakhouse |
Pick up a unique souvenir in the Old Barn Antique Mall |
There are many other things to do as well. Join a guided walking tour of the historic downtown area, locating buildings from the 1800s and walking down the oldest preserved residential street in the state. Or, go olive oil tasting and sample the small bites at We Olive. The possibilities are endless! And the best part is, many places offer discounts to Metrolink riders.
The $10 Metrolink Weekend Day Pass offers unlimited system-wide travel all day either Saturday or Sunday. In addition, children 5 and under ride free (three children can ride free with an adult who is using a valid ticket; each additional child pays a discounted youth fare). Students of all ages and riders 6 to 18 and younger can receive a 25 percent Metrolink discount on one-way and round-trip tickets and 7-day and monthly passes.
