After hearing recommendations about the OC Bus fare policy, the OCTA Board voted to drop the price of the popular Day Pass from $5 to $4 for a six-month promotional period beginning with the upcoming service change on October 9. Day Pass boardings currently represent 36 percent of OCTA’s fixed-route boardings, so a reduction in price would benefit a significant number of riders.
Reducing the cost of the Day Pass by $1 for six months is expected to draw 600,000 additional boardings and is designed to encourage more people to try and continue using OC Bus. The cost of reducing the Day Pass will be funded by California’s Cap-and-Trade Program. The discounted Day Pass is part of OC Bus 360°.
