Celebrating 30 Years of Helping Service Animals & Trainers Ride Transit

OCTA offers one of the only programs in the country that pairs service animals and their trainers with experience riding public transportation. On October 5, nearly 250 trainers and their animals came to Anaheim to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this unique program.

They gathered at the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) for a chance to ride the bus for free while taking in the sights and sounds of the Downtown Disney District and Anaheim Garden Walk.

Participants from across the nation included the Go Team, Guide Dogs of the Blind, VFR Veterans & First Responders, BARK Therapy Dogs, K-9 University, and Canine Companions.

During the past 30 years, OCTA has assisted with the training of thousands of service animals while helping those in the community gain increased access to public transportation as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The next training day will be offered in April 2025.
