Catch a Free Ride to Laguna Beach Summer Fun

Every summer, people come from all over to experience unique Laguna Beach events like the Sawdust Art Festival, the Laguna Art-A-Fair, the Festival of the Arts, the Pageant of the Masters, productions at the Laguna Playhouse, the one-of-a-kind local shops and restaurants along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), and the beautiful sandy beaches.

Now visitors can enjoy all of Laguna Beach without driving and parking hassles.  From July 9 through August 28, a new free bus service called the Laguna Beach Summer Breeze (OC Bus Route 689) will be available on weekends to transport visitors from a conveniently located freeway-close parking lot all the way to the beach, connecting with popular places and events as well as the Laguna Beach Trolley, a free summer transit system that has served the PCH area for several years.

The Laguna Beach Summer Breeze makes a loop beginning at the SR-133/I-405 parking lot and continues along Laguna Canyon Road with stops at the Sawdust Art Festival, Laguna Art-A-Fair, Festival of the Arts, Pageant of the Masters, the Laguna Playhouse and the

Laguna Beach Bus Station, where it meets the Laguna Beach Trolley. The bus station is a block from the beach.

The Laguna Beach City Council approved up to $85,000 to fund the bus service to ease traffic congestion on Laguna Canyon Road and reduce the number of cars entering downtown. The funds will pay the cost of operating the buses and will help market the free bus service with targeted ads online and at public libraries, senior centers, city halls and other destinations throughout the region.
